My heart on four legs.
She was never "just a dog." She was my soulmate in fur, my comfort, my adventure partner, and one of the greatest loves of my life.
Bright eyes, goofy smile, gentle soul.
When Abby came into my world, she changed everything. She had a way of making everything brighter, from her big beautiful brown eyes, her goofy smile so full of life, gentle soul and adventurous spirit, to the way she curled up beside you, gave gentle kisses, and demanded belly rubs.
She was there through my highest highs and deepest lows, always offering comfort without needing words.
To so many, Abby was a beautiful dog who had a way of making everyone she met feel something special. But to me, Abby was so much more. She was my safe place, my comfort in hard seasons, and my reason to keep going on days that felt heavy. She didn't just walk beside me through life… she helped shape the woman I've become.
Abby was my home, my everything.
Her journey
Then one day, everything changed.
Our journey together was filled with love, laughter, unconditional love, and a bond that will stay with me forever.
Then one day, everything changed.
Like so many families, our world changed when cancer became part of Abby's story. It was a normal morning, a normal walk, Abby sniffing and playing as usual. When we got home, minutes later, everything changed. Her gums turned white, she became weak and tired. I rushed her to the emergency room.
The Diagnosis
Hemangiosarcoma.
A Timeline of Love
February 24 — Diagnosed.
March 4 — In my arms.
So unexpected. So unfair.
Her journey was not defined by cancer. It was defined by strength, love, and the incredible legacy she would leave behind, but I will carry on.
Hemangiosarcoma was what I was told, the word that changed my whole world forever and one I had never heard before. I sunk into a whirlwind filled with hope, fear, advocacy, heartbreak, and moments that tested me in ways I never expected. What followed were countless appointments, phone calls, sleepless nights, second-guessing every decision, searching for answers, fighting for more time, and trying to stay strong for the one who had always been strong for me, and who trusted me with everything.
Walking beside Abby through illness taught me what true courage and love look like, and how precious each and every day is. Even in her last days, Abby continued to love fully, live bravely, and remind me what really matters.
To every person who has loved an animal deeply…
I see you. You are not alone. I understand what it is to love an animal in a way only certain people truly understand.
Abby's Legacy Society is more than an organization. It is a promise. A promise that your love matters. Your grief matters. Your story matters.
Maybe you're caring for a companion right now.
Maybe you've faced a diagnosis you never expected.
Maybe you've said goodbye and are still learning how to carry that loss.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for believing in this mission. Thank you for helping me carry Abby's legacy forward. Because of your support, her love continues to heal, to inspire, and to change lives.
Abby's Legacy Society was built from the hardest chapter of my life, but also from one of the greatest loves I have ever known.
